About

Karen Mauk headshot

As an experience designer, I collaborate with community stakeholders to codesign products and services that strengthen partnerships and reduce inequalities. For over 15 years, I have been operating a small business that develops print and digital instructional content for a range of audiences. My work includes short- and long-form writing as well as extensive research and testing related to diverse needs. I design, implement, and test user interfaces and digital environments. As a project manager, I lead multiple projects simultaneously from planning to post-production within target schedules and budgets. My MFA thesis examines how people cocreate their own public gathering places as a way of reimagining their communities. I live with my husband in Northern Michigan, where I find much of the inspiration for my work.
